CAFE at Buckeye Library
Music has the power to bring people together, spark memories, and create joy. At Central Arizona Flute Ensemble (CAFE Flutes), we believe that everyone should have access to live music—regardless of age, income, or background. That’s why we’re passionate about performing free community concerts throughout the Valley.
These concerts aren’t just about listening. They’re about experiencing music in an interactive way. From the bright sound of the piccolo to the deep resonance of the rare 10-foot contrabass flute, audiences get to see, hear, and even touch the instruments that make up the flute family. We introduce each piece of music with stories, fun facts, and context that help bring it to life. And after the final note fades, there’s always time for questions and conversation.

Music Meets Visual Art
Playing at the WHAM Art Gallery in Surprise
Beyond libraries, we’re thrilled to collaborate with visual arts organizations to connect music and art in fresh, inspiring ways.

Partnering with the Tempe Artists Guild, Art and Music Through a Creative Lens will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Hackett House in Tempe. Audience members will explore how music and visual art reflect and enrich each other through guided discussion and performance.

Partnering with the Arizona Art Alliance, Interpretations: Art and Music will be presented on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the WHAM Community Art Center in Surprise, AZ. This program will pair selected artworks with live flute choir music, creating an immersive, multisensory experience.

Free concerts remove barriers so that anyone can enjoy music. Seniors who might not have transportation to larger venues, families with young children who want an informal introduction to the arts, and lifelong learners seeking cultural enrichment all benefit from these opportunities.
Audience members often tell us how much they enjoy our interactive approach—whether it’s playing small percussion instruments during Disney songs, learning the history behind a classical piece, or simply feeling the vibrations of the contrabass flute up close. About CAFE Flutes
CAFE is a 7-member traveling flute choir that enriches, enlightens, and inspires Central Arizona residents by presenting interactive concerts and educational programs that showcase the flute family’s diverse instruments. The 7-member group offers interactive concert programs that feature various musical styles: show tunes, patriotic, folk, oldies, pop, and classical. They demonstrate all their instruments, including the 10-foot-long contrabass flute, and introduce each piece with interesting tidbits about the music and composer.
The flutists take it a step further during the concert by passing around demonstration flutes and piccolos, allowing the audience to experience the instruments firsthand.
Since 2014, they have performed over 250 concerts, including Desert Botanical Garden, Mesa Art Center, senior communities, libraries, art galleries, Tempe History Museum, Arizona Broadway Theatre, and Peoria Center for Performing Arts.
With a music library of over 150 pieces, CAFE Flutes can customize their concert to fit the occasion. Themed programs include a selection of Patriotic, St. Patrick’s Day, Summer, Show Tunes, Singalong, Mother’s Day, and Winter Holiday melodies.
Are you looking for a fun, educational experience? “Fascinating Flutes” is a 2-person demonstration of flutes worldwide through live performance, storytelling, videos, photos, and sound clips. Diverse flutes are sent around the room for listeners to examine up close in this 1-hour presentation.
Music creates community while activating memories, movement, and emotions all at the same time! Research confirms that listening to live music, especially with others, enhances overall health. CAFE harnesses the power of music to connect people in our community.
